Flatbed Towing in Edmonton
Protects Your Drivetrain
Why Flatbed? Because Your Drivetrain Matters
A wheel-lift tow drags your front wheels down the road. For some vehicles, that's damage waiting to happen. All-wheel drive cars, luxury vehicles, and damaged cars need flatbed towing—they roll onto a flat hydraulic bed, then roll off at their destination. Nothing rolls. Nothing drags. Your car stays whole.
Whether you own a $15,000 used car with a weak transmission or a $150,000 luxury SUV, flatbed towing is the safe choice. Edmonton winters mean icy roads and unpredictable breakdowns. When your vehicle needs recovery, choose the method that protects it.
Flatbed vs. Wheel-Lift: What's the Difference?
Wheel-Lift Towing
The traditional method: steel arms lift your front or rear wheels while the other pair rolls behind the truck. Simple, fast, economical. But it puts stress on your drivetrain, suspension, and steering components.
Not ideal for:
• All-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles—drivetrain takes heavy stress
• Front-wheel drive (FWD) with front-end damage—wheels can't roll safely
• Luxury cars with low ground clearance—risk of bumper/undercarriage damage
• Expensive vehicles where any damage becomes costly
Flatbed Towing
Your entire vehicle rolls onto a hydraulic deck. The deck lowers to ground level, you drive (or we winch) the car onto it, then it raises and secures with straps. The car doesn't roll at all during transport.
Ideal for:
• All-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles—no transmission stress
• Luxury and high-value vehicles—zero contact with road
• Sports cars with low clearance—protected from ground contact
• Damaged vehicles with suspension or wheel issues—can't roll on its own
• Non-running vehicles—no need to push-start or risk damage
• Vehicles with custom modifications—protect your investment
Our Flatbed Fleet
3K carries multiple flatbed trucks with capacities from 8,000 to 15,000 pounds. Hydraulic decks tilt to ground level for easy loading. Safety straps and wheel chocks secure your vehicle throughout the tow. Whether you drive a Subaru Outback or an imported luxury sedan, we have the right flatbed.
All our flatbed operators are trained in proper load-securing and route planning to avoid rough roads whenever possible. Your vehicle isn't cargo—it's someone's transportation. We treat it that way.
When Should You Request Flatbed?
All-Wheel Drive Vehicles
AWD systems lock all four wheels together for traction. Wheel-lift towing forces one axle to rotate while the other locks up—it's mechanical stress that can damage your transmission and differential. Flatbed eliminates that risk entirely.
Low-Clearance Vehicles
Sports cars, luxury sedans, and performance vehicles often have bumpers, splitters, or air dams just inches off the ground. Wheel-lift equipment risks catching and ripping these expensive components. Flatbed keeps your car safely above road level.
Damaged or Non-Running Vehicles
If your car won't start, has suspension damage, or steering issues, wheel-lift towing may be impossible or dangerous. Flatbed accommodates non-running vehicles without asking them to roll on their own.
Luxury and High-Value Vehicles
Whether it's a newer BMW, Mercedes, Audi, or a well-maintained classic, expensive vehicles deserve premium handling. Flatbed is the gold standard for high-value transport.

How Flatbed Towing Works
When you call 3K, tell us you need flatbed and describe your vehicle (year, make, model). Our dispatcher confirms a flatbed unit and gives you arrival time. When we arrive:
1. We assess your vehicle's condition
2. Hydraulic deck lowers to ground level (nearly flat)
3. You drive onto the bed, or we use a winch to pull non-running vehicles
4. Straps and chocks secure the vehicle
5. Deck raises and we transport to your destination
6. At destination, we lower the deck and unload safely
The entire process takes 15–20 minutes if you can drive the vehicle, or 30–40 minutes if we need to winch a non-running car.
